(CLEVELAND) – The Truett McConnell University lacrosse team defeated Brenau University in dominating fashion (16-2) on Saturday afternoon at the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex to improve to 3-2, 2-0 AAC on the season, while the Golden Tigers fell to 0-3, 0-2 AAC.

It only took 45 seconds for the Lady Bears to get up on the scoreboard first when freshman Sophie Beach found the back of the net on a free position shot (1-0). Two minutes later sophomore Hope Foster followed up with another free position goal (2-0) and the Golden Tigers responded with their first goal to get within one (2-1), but it was only up from there for TMU. In fact, the Lady Bears scored eight more unanswered goals (10-1) before Brenau recorded their second and final goal with five minutes to go before halftime (10-2). Nonetheless, TMU added three more goals in the final five minutes to force a running clock for the remainder of the game (13-2).

The Lady Bears outshot the Golden Tigers 33-4 throughout the first half and 14-3 in the second half, while 34 of TMU’s shots were on target. Furthermore, the Lady Bears had 13 successful clears and only three failed. Lastly, the Lady Bears recorded a total of 32 ground balls in comparison to Brenau’s 18 and TMU won 16 draws, while the Golden Tigers won three.

Individually, freshmen Carter Culverhouse and Beach tallied four goals apiece, while Cameron Lee and Hope Foster added three apiece. Lee led with 11 shots, seven on goal, Hope Foster added 10 with 10, six on goal. Sophomore Christian Roberts earned two saves on the day.

Up next, the Lady Bears will hit the road for Asbury College on Tuesday, March 10, before returning home to host Reinhardt University on Wednesday, March 18.
