ATHENS, Tenn. (Feb. 9, 2019) – For the second straight game, senior Jacob Booke led the Truett McConnell University men’s basketball to an Appalachian Athletic Conference win. The Bears defeated the Tennessee Wesleyan University Bulldogs for the second time this season (83-70), but this time on the road.

The Bears improved to 14-12, 9-11 AAC while the Bulldogs fell to 8-17, 4-15 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Bears came out early ready to dominate maintaining a lead throughout the entire first half aside from 30 seconds. TMU led by as many as nine and by three heading into the second half (35-30). The Bulldogs went on to take the lead in the first two minutes of the second half and did not allow the Bears to get back out front for good until the final nine minutes.

TMU led by no less than double digits with three minutes to go. The Bears’ defensively held Tennessee Wesleyan to just eight points in the last five minutes.

The Bears drained seven 3-pointers in the second half while the Bulldogs made five.

LEADERS
Five Bears scored double-digits led by Booke. Booke scored 19 points in 21 minutes going 5-for-7 from behind the 3-point arc. Sophomore Calvin White followed with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Christian Davis scored 11 and had two steals while Myles Monroe and Filipe Goncalves scored 10.

 Kai Lambert was credited eight assists and added six points and six rebounds.

The Bears are back on the road for two more AAC games. First on the schedule is Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Allen University.
