(Turners Corner)- Firefighters from Lumpkin, White and Union counties worked together to extinguish structure fires at a campground on U.S. 19/U.S. 129 in rural Lumpkin County Thursday night.

White County 9-1-1 received a request for mutual aid from Lumpkin County about 9:30 p.m. Thursday for structure fires at Mountain View Campground near Roadkill Café, said White County Fire Services spokeswoman Ana Newberry.

“Upon arrival, two units were fully involved,” Newberry said in a statement.  No injuries were reported.

“There were two homes destroyed,” said Lumpkin County Fire Chief David Wimpy.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.

White County Tanker 6 and fire personnel assisted Lumpkin County for about 3.5 hours, Newberry said.

Mountain View Campground is located at 15220 Hwy. 19 North, Cleveland, just north of Turners Corner.
