(Cleveland)- The  hot Summer temperatures are expected to continue across Northeast Georgia for at least several more days.  Today forecasters say heat index readings for our area  should reach in the upper 90’s.

These reading in the 90’s  is uncomfortable for us humans and our pets as well.   No one would leave a child  in hot car, but some may thing it’s okay  for your pet, because you have the window opened a small amount.

Pat Cooper, White County Animal Control Officer, after receiving some  reports this week about  people leaving pets in parked cars, while they go in the store said,  “ we would like to remind animal owners  not leave their furry friends in parked cars as temperatures inside will quickly reach dangerous levels for their animals, even with windows cracked. “

Even with outside  temperatures in the 70’s you should not leave a pet in a closed vehicle.

Anyone who sees a pet left in a hot car should report that to 9-1-1.
