AUGUSTA, Ga. – For the eighth time in her career, University of North Georgia softball player Kylee Smith has been named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Smith went 2-0 in three appearances at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, allowing just two total hits in 13.2 innings of work with 24 strikeouts. The reigning National Player of the Year, she picked up her first win against No. 19 Lenoir-Rhyne, going all seven innings with two hits allowed and one walk while striking out 15.

She pitched five no-hit innings in a 6-3 win over Hillsdale, striking out six, then pitched 1.2 innings of relief against California (Pa.), striking out three with no hits or walks allowed. Smith is tied for the league lead in wins and is second in strikeouts and fourth in ERA.

The No. 3 Nighthawks will now turn their attention to their home opener as they host The Cottrell Foundation Loyal Blue Classic this weekend.
