(INDIANAPOLIS) – University of North Georgia softball pitcher Kylee Smith was named a NCAA statistical champion earlier this week as she posted the lowest earned run average in Division II this past season. Smith is now a two-time statistical champion in ERA.

A rising senior from Suwanee, Georgia, Smith posted a 0.73 ERA, 15 points lower than the next closest pitcher in the nation. She allowed just 23 earned runs across 220.1 innings of work in 39 games. Smith was the only pitcher in DII that pitched more than 151 innings with less than 30 earned runs.

The Ron Lenz Pitcher of the Year and a consensus All-American First Teamer, Smith finished second in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings and strikeouts while ending in fourth place in shutouts, strikeouts per seven innings and wins.

Smith was named statistical champion in 2018 in wins, strikeouts and ERA.
