Ruth T. Collins – Echols, age 88, of Lula, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness.

 Ruth was born on June 24, 1930 in Hall County, Georgia to the late Rev. Curmit Thomas and Lillie Bell Saxon Thomas. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Fay Thomas, Ford Collins, and Bascom Echols; brothers, Rev. Hudson Thomas and Rev. Cecil Thomas. She retired from Barry Manufacturing with 15 years of service. Ruth was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lula, Georgia and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth was a very loving mother and grandma.

 Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Susan Thomas, of Lula; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred Thomas Loggins and Ronnie , of Lula; grandchildren, Tina Thomas Herbermann and James, of Jacksonville, FL; Chad Thomas, of Lula; Gina Thomas, Lula; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Belton Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Stone and Rev. James Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Ruth will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour at 2:00 p.m.

 The family will accept friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel.

 Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a church or charity of one’s choice.
