(Cleveland)- The White County Rotary Club has completed a very successful year under the leadership of President Todd Marks.  At Tuesday’s meeting, Marks recognized several Rotarians and others in the community for outstanding work.  The Jean Harris award is presented each year and is named in honor of the wife of Paul Harris, founder of Rotary International. The award recognizes the efforts of Rotarian or non-Rotarian women who have made a significant contribution to the development and progress of others in their communities. This year’s award recipient is Judy Lovell of Cleveland. She has served on numerous civic boards but most recently her efforts have been dedicated to preserving the written and physical history of White County. Judy is also a popular newspaper columnist with a weekly history lesson in the White County News.  

Greg Adams, the owner of Adam’s Foods IGA, was presented with the Eugene Adams Award for Community Service This award is given in honor of the late Eugene Adams, a White County Rotarian, it recognizes a local business or civic leader, whose unselfish service has furthered the civic and business welfare of our community. Adams has served on numerous boards and is well known for his generous contributions to numerous churches, schools, athletic and civic associations as well as the White County Food Pantry.

Marks also awarded a special presidential citation to Regina Ward, with JW Reeds in Cleveland. who prepares the rotary meals each week. Marks said Regina is absolutely on top of everything – she is thoughtful and considerate, and I know that a great deal of time and effort go into planning our weekly meal service.

Presidents Award- Gene White

President Marks also recognized earlier award winners:

Lee Arrendale Vocational Excellence Award – Carl Free
Robert St. Stubbs II Guardian of Ethics Award – Tim Thomas

At the conclusion of the meeting, current president Marks handed over the presidential gavel to incoming president Nathan Eason.
