Mr. Robert Louis Garrett, age 80, of Dahlonega passed away Friday, April 3, 2020.

Mr. Garrett is a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County.  He was born on January 25, 1940, to the late Luther “Bud” and Edna Mae Jones Garrett.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law J.W. Lee, Boyd Ray, John Summerour, L.D. Grizzle, Gwen, and Dillard Norrell, Dena and Jewell Justus, Fred Grizzle, and Clyde and Betty Grizzle.   

Mr. Garrett was a veteran serving in the United States Army.  He worked for over 30 years and retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation as a supervisor.  Mr. Garrett was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church.  His love for his beloved wife and his attention to the smallest details of life are among many things that will forever make him be remembered.   

Survivors include his wife, of 57 years, Maxie Garrett, Dahlonega; sister Mildred Gainer, Florida; sisters-in-law Mae Lee, Murrayville, Ostena Grizzle, Bonnie Summerour, and Shirley Grizzle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Judd and Cunnie Grizzle, all of Dahlonega; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.   

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Salem Baptist Church parking lot.  The church was very important to Mr. Garrett and the family is asking if you attend to remain in your cars as the service will be amplified.  The Rev. Jason Fuller and the Rev. Daniel Sparks will officiate.  Private interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the veterans on our staff at the funeral home.
