DAHLONEGA – The No. 23 University of North Georgia baseball team’s bats exploded, clinching the series against Trevecca Nazarene by winning game three, 11-3, Sunday afternoon in Bob Stein Stadium.

After a tough loss in game two, the Nighthawks were first on the board in the first. TNU struggled on the mound with several walks and hit batters, allowing UNG to load the bases and score Chase Sudduth on another walk administered to Josh Profit.

The Nighthawks tacked on three more runs in the third. Conner Corbitt started the rally with a line double to left field, Profit coming behind him with a single and later advancing to second to put runners in scoring position. A walk issued to William Mapes loaded the bases for freshman Crews Taylor to deliver a base-clearing double to right center, registering three out of his five RBI on the day.

Trevecca Nazarene’s Michael Brown responded in the fourth with a single up the middle. Carter Wiseman delivered after him with a single to left, putting runners on board for Chandler Miller, whose two RBI double cut the Nighthawk lead in half, 4-2. The Trojans continued to put pressure on North Georgia in the seventh after Brandon Hauswald scored on an error to make the score 4-3.

The Nighthawks added another run in the seventh but pulled away in the eighth after a three-run homer from Steven Tomlinson to extend the lead to 8-3, and a two-RBI single from Taylor for the 11-3 win.
