FLORENCE, S.C. – Abbie Franklin led all scorers with 22 points as the No. 16 University of North Georgia women’s basketball team pushed past Francis Marion, 75-68, Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots pushed out to a quick lead through one quarter, 22-17, but the Nighthawks responded in the second quarter to tie the game at 34 going to the locker room.

From there, Franklin took over, scoring 13 of her 22 points in the second half to help North Georgia push ahead and lead for the majority of the final half and earn the conference win.

NOTES
– Franklin shot 7-for-13 from the field, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc, and 5-for-7 from the free throw stripe. Amber Skidgel had 19 points, while Tamera Thorpe added 13 to the cause.

– Four Patriots finished in double figures with Shaunice Fulmore leading the way with 19. Zakia Woods earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

– The Nighthawks were outrebounded for just the second time this season, 43-42.

The Nighthawks will take time to finish the fall semester in the classroom before hitting the floor again on December 17 at home against Flagler. Tip off is set for 1:30 p.m.
