Newly Elected Officials Take The Oath Of Office

(Cleveland)- This year’s newly elected candidates were sworn into office Monday at the White County Courthouse. The swearing in ceremony was conducted by White County Probate Judge Garrison Baker and it means these folks are now ready to get to work. Baker administered the oath of office to Enotah Judicial Circuit Judge Raymond George, Edwin Nix, White County Commissioner District 3, along with Board of Education District 4 member Linda Erbele and John Solmon, White County Board of Education District 2.

Solmon said he is ready to implement some ideas, ” I’m glad I got elected because I’ve got some ideas that I want to try to see if implemented will help the school system become a better school system, the hard work paid off and I’m glad it did,” said Solmon.

Erbele said, ” I’m excited to serve, I’m humbled to have been elected, but I’m ready to get to work.”

Commissioner Edwin Nix said he proud to continue serving the people, ” I appreciate the opportunity to serve this community, I’ve lived here all my life and I take this serious and I appreciate the opportunity for it. Hopefully, we can keep things going good around here, that’s what our intent is anyway, ” commented Nix.

Following the oath of office Judge Baker talked about the seriousness of the oath that each of the people were taking he said, ” don’t know if all of you get this idea that it seems like that every time every oath, everything we are saying in the oath comes back to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Georgia, that is so important when it comes to public service and what we do.”

Baker then administered the loyalty oath to Judge George, who then administered the same oath to each of the other officials.

District 2 Commissioner Lyn Holcomb was out of town and will be sworn in later this week.
