(Cleveland)-The new restriction on visitor lodging in White County will be implemented today (Friday) following the approval of a resolution by the White County Board of Commissioners on Thursday that shuts down that industry and tells those who currently at those facilities they have until noon Saturday to leave the county.
These measures along with Governor Brian Kemp’s shelter in place order that goes into effect today is hoped to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
White County is also having to take more drastic measures to keep people from using some of the closed recreation areas in the county.
Earlier this week county crews placed barricades at the entrance to the Yonah Mountain Trail Head, White County Public Safety Director David Murphy speaking on Local News Radio Friday morning said someone moved those barricades and threw them in the ditch, so now more protective measures will be taken, with state and local law enforcement joining the U.S. Forest Service watching and patrolling that area.
Murphy also said that they will be making more CODE RED calls to county residents advising seniors about where they can do their early grocery and pharmacy shopping and hopefully cut down on the threat of contracting the coronavirus. He said 14-thousand call attempts were made last night and more will be made.
Overall Murphy said the majority of White County businesses and residents are abiding the new regulation put into place.
