Mrs. Janice Prater Foster, age 77, of Dahlonega passed away Friday, June 14, 2019.

Mrs. Foster was born in Hall County on December 29, 1941 to the late Lonnie and Beuny Whitmire Prater.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Melba Rea and brother Jerry Prater.  Mrs. Foster was a member of Cavender Creek Baptist Church.  She worked for many years at Butler’s Five and Dime Store.  Mrs. Foster also worked at Torrington (KOYO) and then later she retired from Walmart.  Her grandchildren called her “Nana”.  Mrs. Foster loved to sing in her church choir and she was a member of “Cabin Fever”, a Bluegrass Band which she started.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy and Brenda Fortner, Dahlonega, and Johnny and Tammy Fortner, Cleveland; grandchildren Kelsey and Dan Davis, Kelley and T.J. Alexander, and Tyler Fortner; great-grandchildren Natalie Harris, Abigail Davis, and Ella Alexander; brothers and sisters-in-law Benny and Carol Prater,  and Gary and Gloria Prater; brothers Danny Prater, and Stanley Prater; sister Doris Prater; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, June 17, 2019 at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home.  The Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate.  Interment will follow in Cavender Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
