Mr. Marshall Jerome Kitchens, Sr., age 87, of Dahlonega passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018.
Mr. Kitchens was born in Macon, GA on February 12, 1931 to the late William Burke and Lucille Whaley Kitchens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Burkelyn Gladin. Mr. Kitchens was retired from Dodge Corporation after having worked for them for more than 40 years. His favorite pastime was cutting grass on his zero-turn lawnmower. Mr. Kitchens was affectionately called “Granddaddy” by his grandchildren. He was a member and deacon at Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of 64 years, Helen Kitchens, Dahlonega; son and daughter-in-law Jerome, Jr. and Connie Kitchens, Dahlonega; daughter and son-in-law La Shon and Warren Butler, Canton; son Jody Kitchens, Forsyth; sister Anita Ryle, Macon; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church. The Reverend Jim Holmes and the Reverend Lance Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
