(Atlanta)- Peach State Health Plan has announced a partnership with the Georgia HOPE and Mountain Ed Charter Schools.  Peach StateHealth Plan in a news release said they have awarded a grant to the school to support the implementation of an online school-based mental health program in Mountain Ed Charter Schools based in Cleveland.

The grant covers an annual subscription to the Georgia Partnership on Telehealth along with the telehealth equipment that will support the program.

One in every five youth in the U.S. meet the criteria for a lifetime mental disorder. While it is normal for adolescents to experience many emotions as they mature, mental health disorders are characterized by persistent symptoms that affect a young person’s regular activities and daily functioning. When left untreated, mental health disorders can lead to serious consequences such as poor academic outcomes, substance abuse, and suicide. Early treatment of mental disorders can help prevent more severe problems from developing and give teens the resources to manage their condition.

Remedios Rodriguez, Vice President, Implementation and Integration, Peach State Health Plan said,  “We are excited to be a part of an innovative approach to school-based mental health services”.
