Cleveland — White County voters will begin receiving absentee ballot request applications for the May 19th Primary Election in an effort by the Georgia Secretary of State’s office to encourage voters to cast their ballot by mail during the coronavirus pandemic. The mass mailing of the absentee request forms began Monday.

Chief Voter Registrar Lisa Manning advised in an email stating that if you would like to vote by mail just fill out the absentee ballot request application, choose your preferred party and sign it, then return to the White County Voter Registrar’s office. You can mail the application or drop it off. The registrar’s office is closed to the public so call 706-865-7812 if you plan to drop off the application.

Once the form is returned to the registrar’s office the ballots will be sent to the voter within 3 days.

Your registration must be in active status to automatically receive an application. Those voters in inactive or canceled status must request the ballot by calling the registrar’s office. To check your voter status go to sos.ga.gov/elections.

All voters will be able to choose candidates for the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House, the Georgia General Assembly, and local races. The Presidential Primary will also be listed for voters who did not get to cast a ballot when the primary was postponed on March 14th.

Ballots that were cast before the presidential primary was postponed will be counted May 19th along with the other ballots.
