(Dahlonega)- Tuesday the Georgia Department of Transportation presented the people of Lumpkin County with funds to “re-pave the way” through the Local Maintenance and Improvements Grant (LMIG) program. On behalf of the State Transportation Board, Georgia DOT officials presented a check for $400,000 to repave 5-point-52 miles of four local roads, to Lumpkin County Commissioners as the County’s Fiscal Year 2015 allotment.
Senator Steve Gooch representing the 51st District and Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee said, “I am proud the Partnership between Lumpkin County and the DOT continues to grow. Partnerships like ours are vital to improving mobility in our Region and State.
Lumpkin County Commission Chair, Chris Dockery thankfully accepted the oversized check during a ceremony and commented, “I am always glad to accept additional funding for infrastructure improvements. We already have plans to resurface parts of Bear Slide Hollow Road, Miller Calhoun Road, Frogtown Road and Auraria Road next Spring.”

- 72 miles of Bear Slide Hollow Road from Ben Higgins Road to the end
- 50 miles of Miller Calhoun Road from State Route 9 to Sandy Springs Road
- 85 miles of Frogtown Road from Lewis School Road to Damascus Church Road
- 45 miles of Auraria Road from Blackburn Road to the Lumpkin-Dawson County Line
