(Cleveland)- The White County Rotary Club is a civic club that is made up of business and community leaders that work to help in our community but also the local club has been working with Rotary International in the effort to eradicate Polio in the world.
White County Rotary Club President Nathan Eason speaking on Local News Radio Tuesday morning said Rotary began a campaign back in 1985 with the effort to rid the world of Polio. Nigeria is on the verge of being declared polio-free, which would mean the virus has been eradicated in Africa.
Eason said that there are 78 cases of polio right now, 62 victims in Pakistan and 16 polio in Afghanistan. The goal of Rotary is to eradicate the disease with the help of these countries that can be done.
