(Cleveland)- White County voters mirrored the statewide voting for governor in Tuesday’s primary runoff election with voters here giving  Brian Kemp a 65 to 34 edge in the vote count.  Kemp carried all voting precincts in the county, only the absentee voters cast more votes for Casey Cagle.

In the District 2, White County Board of Education race challenger John Solmon beat incumbent Charlie Bryson 55 to 44 percent of the votes.  The vote count showed Solmon garnering 2,019 to Bryson’s 1,649.

Solomon expressed his thanks to voters Tuesday  night following the vote count  and talked about his number one goal, “my first priority is to make sure the fund balance is secure so that the next downturn in the economy that the school system does not have to furlough teachers,  raise taxes and cut services to the kids. I want to make sure they have an account there that will sustain any recession,  any lowering of property tax values, so they can keep operating as normal, “  said Solmon.

A total of 3,983  of the 17,317 registered voters cast ballots in the primary runoff,  that 23 percent of the voters in the county.

White County Probate Judge/Election Superintendent Garrison Baker said it was good that the number of voters showing up at the polls was higher than earlier expected, but “ still it’s kinda disappointing that about one-fourth of the voters took time to come to the polls to vote,” commented Baker.
