Mr. John Raymond Kathcart, age 62, of Dahlonega passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019.

Mr. Kathcart was born in Mt. Holly, N.J. on January 3, 1957 to the late Edward and Joan Treniere Kathcart.  Mr. Kathcart was a gifted stone mason.  His logo was “Have Trowel Will Travel”.  Mr. Kathcart loved horses and he was an accomplished farrier.  He graduated first in his class at South Jersey School of Horseshoeing in Mullica, N.J. where he earned his Certificate of Equine Anatomy and Forge Work.  He was mentored first by Bruce Daniels then served as an apprentice under J.C. Alfred Pendray in Florida.  These men were Master Smiths.   

On September 16, 1977 he married the love of his life, Joanne Czukiewski Kathcart.  Together they have two amazing children Donna Lynn Hall of Dahlonega, and Christina Dezek (Jeremy) of Richmond Hill, and two much-loved grandchildren Anthony Jason Gearin and Nadia Dezek.  Also surviving Mr. Katcart are his siblings Edward Kathcart, Barbara Shingler, Cindy Maldonado, Jim Kathcart, Kathy Kathcart, and Tammy Kathcart.

Mr. Kathcart’s wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.
