(Cleveland)- New unemployment figures show White County has the lowest unemployment rate for the northeast Georgia region.  September preliminary labor department figures place White with a 2.2 percent unemployment rate.

The labor department said the number of workers in the labor force was 16,487, of those 16,130 had jobs and 357 were unemployed.

The county has been blessed with a strong economy, but for those still seeking employment, the Georgia Department of Labor in conjunction with local officials held a community job fair Thursday at Truett McConnell College. Stephanie Ponce, Regional Coordinator for GDOL said there were about 30 businesses participated.

” This is the perfect venue for people to employers who are looking to hire, ” said Ponce.

For some, the employer was holding job interviews on-site for those fitting their needs.
