(Cleveland)-  When the new school year begins later this week students and parents at Jack P. Nix Elementary School will notice some spruced up areas on the campus.

During the summer White County  High School student and Eagle Scout candidate Griffin Defoor have been busy working to renovate the elementary schools Outdoor Classroom area.

J. P. Nix Principal Stacie Ward said, “It’s been several years we’ve needed that area renovated because of floods and other reasons, he came up with the project, it looks amazing and we are so happy with it. “  She said, “ this project truly demonstrates his amazing leadership skills.”

Also, members of Concord at Mt Yonah in Cleveland were out in force this past Saturday and did an amazing job cleaning up revitalizing the tiered garden along ABC Drive behind the school.

“ Our tiered garden area, we’ve had it for about 15 years, and it was getting a little rundown and was needing some loving care so that group came in weeded that area and renovated it and it looks amazing,” said Ward.

The church group did some sprucing up work at the White County High School as well.
