Mr. J.B. Ash, age 80, of Dahlonega, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
J.B. was born in Lithonia on February 8, 1939 to the late Hyatt L. and Maudell Reece Ash. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Leonard Ash, son-in-law Bryan Swain, and his granddaughter Annah Faith Robinson. J.B. served his country honorably in the United States Army. He will be greatly missed by his friend and sidekick “Emme” his shih tzu. J.B. was retired from Orkin Pest Control with 34 years of dedicated service to his customers. He had worked for several years with Coppermine Pest Control, serving Lumpkin County and White County school systems and he was a part-time funeral assistant with Alexander Funeral Home. J.B. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Ash; daughter Dawn Swain; daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Joel Robinson; grandchildren Andrew Swain and Emilee Robinson; sister Mary Ann Arrington; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The Rev. Phillip Robinson, the Rev. Tim Hicks, and the Rev. Les Fuller will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors and the Rev. Roger Dunagan will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund.
