FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Senior Shawn Hopkins scored a game high 26 points as the University of North Georgia men’s basketball team got back on the winning track by defeating Emmanuel, 79-71, Tuesday night on the road.

After a back-and-forth first half that saw UNG lead by one at the break, the Nighthawks came out and took the lead for good with 16:26 to play after De’Undra Singleton scored an and-one to put North Georgia up three. From there, the lead stretched out to as many as 11 before settling at the final score.

NOTES
– Hopkins scored 17 of his 26 in the second half, including making four three-pointers in the final 20 minutes. Jack Howard was the only other Nighthawk in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

– Ephraim Tshimanga finished one point shy of a double-double, notching nine points and 11 rebounds.

– Kendrick Colvin led the Lions in the scoring column, recording a double-double of 24 points and 12 boards.

– North Georgia wrapped up the non-conference portion of the schedule, going 5-1 in those games. This marks the best non-conference record since the 2014-15 season when UNG went 6-1 in non-conference matchups.
