CLEVELAND, Ga. (June 19, 2019) – Sophomore Karley Hobbs and freshman Briley Lawson earned spots on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NAIA All-Region First Team, announced the association in June. Additionally, seven Lady Bears were named to the NFCA All-Academic team; Bethany HydeBrie LevyJaden MorrisonKaitlynn JohnsonKatie Carruth, Lauren Mosely and Sara Sullivan.

The back-to-back Appalachian Athletic Conference pitcher of the year, All-American second team and All-AAC first team select, Hobbs, recorded a 1.21 ERA while holding her opponents to an overall batting average of .194. Hobbs went undefeated during the regular season (28-0) and went 29-4 overall with the addition of two saves from the mound. The standout sophomore finished her season ranked fifth in the country in wins (29), sixth in total innings pitched (231.1) and 10th in ERA. Hobbs also recorded a season high of nine strikeouts in April and tallied a total of 58 assists, eight putouts in the field and only allowed one homerun in all 231.1 innings pitched.

Lawson, the AAC co-freshman of the year and All-AAC first team member, led the team with 10 homeruns and recorded a batting average of .381 and a slugging percentage of .679 with 32 hits, for doubles, 27 RBI’s and 13 runs scored. Lawson recorded a season high of 3RBI’s four different times in conference play.

The Lady Bears finished the year ranked 18th in the NAIA national top 25 postseason poll and posted an overall record of 42-11 and AAC record of 24-2. TMU’s 2019 campaign is the second straight season the team has recorded 40 wins, won the AAC regular season title and claimed an automatic berth to the NAIA national tournament.
