(Cleveland)- A new high rise structure is going up south of Cleveland and it has attracted the attention from folks traveling south of town.  The city is constructing a  new 300,000-gallon elevated water storage tank on top of a hill on Underwood Farm Road.  Up close look at the frame of new water tank on Underwood Farm Road

City Engineer Brian Rindt told the city council this week that the construction is well underway.  Rindt said the construction is being done in two phases, the base and footing and then the main structure.  That first phase has been completed and he said, ” the water tank is connected to the water system now.”

City officials say this new tank will provide more water volume and storage on the south end of town.  The cost of the project is $678,619 and will be paid with Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST)  funds.

Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors is the contractor that is doing the work and Rindt said, it should take another 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
