(Cleveland)-  White County school officials held groundbreaking  Tuesday for the new Ninth Grade Academy and Auxiliary Gym to be located next to the high school north of Cleveland.  Dr. Jeff Wilson, Superintendent of Schools said, “we’ve got about 18,000 square feet in a gym that we were going to have to have for the 325 students we were bringing from the 9th grade, and the a 42,000 square foot addition that will be the new Ninth Grade Academy, on the campus of the high school.”

He said the gym may be finished before 2018 and if so they will start using it.

Wilson said the new additions  will be located on the north side of the high school, overlooking the football field.

Along with the new buildings, Wilson said they will be doing some much needed repairs and upgrades to the  20 year old White County High School.

Some ground work is being done now, with the actual construction, by Charles Black Construction Company  expected to begin in a couple of weeks.
