White County in northeastern Georgia... Southeastern Dawson County in north central Georgia... Northwestern Hall County in north central Georgia... East central Union County in north central Georgia... * Until 230 PM EST. * At 836 AM EST, Doppler radar indicated persistent heavy rain continuing across much of northeast Georgia. Between 3 and 5 inches has already fallen in the last 12 to 18 hours across this area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly, if not already occurring. Also, White County emergency management has reported several county roads closed due to flooding. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Gainesville, Dahlonega, Cleveland, Hiawassee, Clermont, Helen, Unicoi State Park, Dougherty, Robertstown, Blue Mountain Shelter, Mossy Creek, Titus, Low Gap Shelter, Murrayville, Anna Ruby Falls, Leaf, Plum Orchard Gap Shelter, Turners Corner, War Hill Park and Sautee. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the next 6 hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
