DNR helicopter used in Saturday medical assist call

(Cleveland)-  White County fire personnel were dispatched to two medical assist in  two separate incidents over the weekend.  White County Public Safety spokeswoman Ana Newberry advised in an email, Saturday around 3 PM units responded to Smith Creek Trail in Unicoi State Park,  to the report of a person that had a medical emergency and needed to be extracted. 

White County firefighters with Mutual Aid from City of Helen and Lee Arrendale, along with White County EMS and DNR personnel responded. 

Newberry said, a  DNR helicopter was also dispatched for the injured person, who was transported to the hospital.  

According to Newberry, one firefighter  received minor injuries from a fall.  

All in all, there were a total of 29 public safety personnel on scene to assist with the incident; the event lasted 6 hours. 

Another incident, Sunday afternoon around 3:30 PM personnel were dispatched to Dukes Creek Falls to a  report of a person that was unresponsive.  Newberry advised as units  were in route to the location, White County 911 Dispatch received a call that that the “patient” was okay and did not need nor want any assistance.
