Ferrell E. “Red” Gray, age 89, of Demorest, Georgia went home to see The Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 following a brief illness.

 Mr. Gray was born on September 13, 1929 in Bowden, Georgia to the late Hoyt and Odessa Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Gray Powell; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ray and Kerri Stallings. Mr. Gray served as a Captain with the City of Atlanta Fire Department having 30 years and 1 day of service. After retirement, Ferrell became the unofficial Mayor of Lakewood Cove Subdivision. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Gray loved gardening, and taking joy rides on his golf cart. Ferrell was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

 Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Francine Alexander Gray, of Demorest; children, Richard and Gail Gray, of Demorest; Deborah and Robert Stallings, of Myrtle Beach, SC; Michael and Lynn Gray, of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Naomi Vinning, Melissa Handly, Leigh Ann Back, Amy Lynn Gray, Makayla Gray; and twelve great-grandchildren.

 The family will accept friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 prior to the service.

 Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Gary Hefner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

 Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels Habersham: Habersham County Senior Center 217 Scoggins Drive, Demorest, Georgia 30535.
