Douglas Robert Manning, 79, of Dahlonega passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on August 17, 2019 following a brief illness.  Born on February 7, 1940 to the late Percy and Olive Manning, Mr. Manning grew up in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He was predeceased by his father, mother, and sister-in-law Sandie Manning.  He is survived by his wife Anne Manning of Dahlonega, son Nigel Manning and his wife Heather, daughter Anne Hall and her husband Stan, son Nearing Adams and his wife Sara, daughter Athley Wear, daughter Caroline Eltringham and her husband Burke, brother Roger Manning and his wife Enid, sister Valerie Harder and her husband Hans, brother Keith Manning, grandson Matthew Hall, grandson Daniel Manning, grandson Peter Manning, granddaughter Sophie Hall, granddaughter Amy Thompson and her husband Jamie, granddaughter Rollins Wear, granddaughter Julia Adams, grandson Pace Eltringham, grandson Samuel Eltringham, grandson Sterling Eltringham, great-grandson Charlie Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.  



Mr. Manning moved to the United States in 1985 to work as an executive for a hygiene services company.  In 1998, he was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his contribution to business relations between S.E. United States and United Kingdom.  After retirement, he founded Wellbeing Hygiene, and worked there until it’s sale in 2016. Mr. Manning was an active member of the Dahlonega United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir.  He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family.



A Celebration of the Life of Mr. Manning will be held at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  A reception and tea will be held in the fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Foundation at the Dahlonega United Methodist Church at 107 S. Park Street, Dahlonega, GA 30533 or the Community Helping Place at 56 Camp Glisson Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533.
