(Cleveland)- Several fire units were dispatched to an apartment fire at 1000 Campbell Street in Cleveland Friday night. Cleveland Fire Chief Ricky Pruitt said they were dispatched at 7:27 pm, after residents of a couple of others apartment units called 9-1–1.
Cleveland Police arrived on scene first and reported heavy smoke coming from the apartment.
Chief Pruitt said, “ Cleveland fire units made a quick interior attack and knocked the fire down.”
According to Pruitt, Cleveland fire investigator Charlie Bryson determined the cause of the fire was a discarded cigarette on the sofa.
No one was at home at the time the fire started and no one was injured. American Red Cross is assisting the occupant with immediate needs.
In addition to Cleveland fire units, automatic aid from White County and the city of Helen fire departments responded.
