(CLEVELAND)- For the second year straight, senior Christian Davis of the Truett McConnell University men’s basketball team was named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference first team and All-Defensive team, announced the league Wednesday. Additionally, Enocka Franky earned a spot on the All-Freshmen team.

DAVIS BY THE NUMBERS

Davis, last year’s AAC Defensive Player of the Year, played and started in all 29 games of his senior year leading the Bears with an average of 14.7 points per game. Davis also led the way compiling a total of 80 assists and 76 steals. Davis’ 76 steals and average of 2.62 a game ranks fourth in the country (in DII).

Furthermore, Davis finished his final year as a Bear ranked 13th in total 3-pointers made (93) nationally and will depart from TMU as the all-time career steals leader (216) and 3-point field goals made leader (265). Davis is also ranked second in career assists (279), just two short of the all-time leader (281).

Davis led the AAC in steals per game (2.62) for the second year in a row and ranked second in 3-pointers made per game (3.21) and total steals (76) to complete his highly decorate career.

Davis’ season high came on Nov. 20, 2018, against Bluefield College when he scored 26 points and his most 3-pointers made (8) was recorded against Reinhardt University on Jan. 8, 2019.

COACH’S REMARKS ON DAVIS

“What a great honor for Christian – back-to-back 1st team honors,” Head Coach Jon Yeh said. “He’s had a tremendous impact on our program, and his accomplishments go far beyond the statistics he has accumulated and the points he has scored.

As I said in his senior day comments, he will be missed sorely. From his tenacity on defense to his shot making ability to his presence in the locker room, Christian has had a phenomenal career as a Bear.”

FRANKY BY THE NUMBERS

Franky’s All-Freshmen team nod marked the sixth in the last five years for the Bears (Campbell, Beausejour, Woodard, Lambert, Monroe). The 6’7 Cameroon native played in 28 games this season averaging 5.14 points and 4.68 rebounds per game. Franky also recorded a total of 28 blocks. Franky’s season high of 11 points took place against Point University in January. Franky also tallied a total of nine rebounds three times this season.

COACH’S REMARKS ON FRANKY

“Enocka has had to overcome so much from a language and cultural standpoint to get to where he is at now,” Yeh said. “He definitely was feeling much more comfortable as the season progressed and was becoming a tremendous presence as a rim protector and an interior scorer as the season came to a close. We’re excited about the potential he holds as he continues to get better acclimated to our system.”
