Weather-10-8-14

(Sautee)- Just a bit cooler temperatures are expected later this week, this could be the prelude to more near normal temperatures for the area and soon maybe frost on the pumpkins.  WRWH weather reporter Bill Kinsland has been doing some research about when we might expect our first freezing temperatures, in White County.

Bill said, “going back through our records, I found that our earliest freeze date was SEPTEMBER 21ST, 2007 …recorded at Helen Police Dept….one of our official National Weather Service Co-op Stations!  Of course, that is an “extreme”…

-On the other extreme, our latest first-freeze date was November 14th, 2015 at Helen and Sautee!

-On the average, our first freeze date of Autumn in White County is October 24th.

Bill says, at the rate our temperatures are going now, it may be quite a spell before our pumpkins get any frost this year!!!
