(Cleveland)- There was an overflow crowd at Monday’s White County Commission meeting the large crowd was not there to protest or were not angry about something the commissioners had done, but they were there for special recognition.
The commissioners took time during their meeting to recognize the White County Parks and Recreation teams who played in the Mountain Football League’s super bowl and the cheerleaders who cheered them on.
Commissioner Lyn Holcomb in reading a proclamation recognizing the group said, ” the White County Board of Commissioners in recognition of the accomplishments made by the White County 6u and 8u Youth Football Teams and Cheerleading Squads, hereby proclaims Monday, December 3, 2018, as: “White County Youth Football Champions Day”.
Don Strength Area One Coordinator for Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security was at the Monday night commission meeting to present David Murphy, White County Public Safety Director and Emergency Management Agency Director with a Professional Certification from GEMA.
“This doesn’t come easy it takes years not only going through classroom time online time and real-life experience,” commented Strength. Holding up a large three-ring binder Strength said: ” this is all the things he had to achieve to get to this level and it took a long time to do it.”
The Commissioners also recognized Dr. Emmett Shotts for his contributions to the White County Board of Health. Shotts served on that board from 2009 until this year. Due to illness, Dr. Shotts was unable to attend Monday commission meeting.
