(Cleveland)- White County Board of Commissioners during their meeting Monday approved a resolution that set the qualifying fees for county offices to be filled in this year’s primary and general election.  Thirteen offices are available including White County Sheriff and Probate Judge, both of those offices have already piqued the interest of several candidates for each office. During Monday’s meeting, White County Election Superintendent Garrison Baker made a request to the commissioners for funds to purchase election equipment.  Baker told the commissioners the county is still awaiting the arrival of the new voting machines from the state as well as the state to pick up the old machines.  He said there are other items that will be needed to help make the upcoming voting process secure and complete. 

According to Baker, there will be six elections that will be held from now until January 6th, 2021.  Baker requested funding to purchase 12 steel cages, one for each precinct,  that will meet the security requirements. The county will need 60 voting booths and other supplies.  In all the commissioners approved up to $55,000 for the elections, with the money coming from SPLOST.   

2020 primary or election fee are hereby set as follows: 

(1) Clerk of Superior Court $1,591.05;

(2) Sheriff $1,943.28;

(3) Probate Judge $1,591.05;

(4) Tax Commissioner $1,591.05;

(5) Chief Magistrate Judge – $1,591.05;

(6) Board of Commissioners, Chair $432.00;

(7) Board of Commissioners, District 1 – $360.00;

(8) Board of Commissioners, District 4- $360.00;

(9) Board of Education, Chair – $148.50;

(10) Board of Education, District 1 – $121.50;

(11) Board of Education, District 3 – $148.50;

(12) Coroner – $226.00; and (

(13) County Surveyor – $25.00
