(Cleveland)- The County Commissioners spent quite a bit of time during their meeting Monday dealing with an incident where Georgia’s Mountain Protection Ordinance has been violated.
The commissioners say Mr. Robert Sloane of Nugget Drive, located in Panorama Estates has violated the ordinance.
The 2005 Mountain Protection Ordinance prohibits certain things that can be done on property on higher elevation of the state to preserves the aesthetic and scenic qualities of the mountain area.
Sloane is accused of having trees clear cut on his property, in violation of Mountain Protection. Sloane was at Monday’s county commission meeting to answer the charges, he told the commissioners he was unaware what he did was prohibited. He said he did it to be able to see the mountains and the Chattahoochee River next to his property.
The commissioners have yet to determined how to handle these violations.
