(Cleveland)- Cleveland City Council Monday showed how proud they are about the recent accomplishment of  Jack P. Nix Elementary School.  The council, during their regular meeting,  approved a proclamation that spotlighted the school for the Platinum award they recently earned in the College and Career Ready Performance Index scores.

Stacie Ward, school principal, and several school staff were on hand to accept the recognition.

At the beginning of the Monday night meeting a J.P. Nix student,  Isaac Parker led the pledge of allegiance.

Also recognized by the council during Monday’s meeting was fellow council member  Edward Young.  The council publicly presented a proclamation recognizing the 47 years of service by Young, a lifelong resident of Cleveland,  on the council.

Young said it has been a great experience, ” I’ve enjoyed it and I just hope the guy coming behind me will jump in and learn where everything is at and do what needs to be done, ” said Young.

Kevin Stanley will fill the Ward 3 post on the council beginning January first.
