(Cleveland)- City of Cleveland officials is in a dilemma about what to do with a damaged fire department ladder truck. Last week city fire chief Ricky Pruitt advised the council that the truck’s ladder and other areas had developed cracks making it unsafe and it has been taken out of service.
Monday night Pruitt said he hasn’t been able to get a firm estimate on what it would take to get the truck back in service. The companies that Pruitt has checked with say, to get an exact cost of repairs they need to have it in their shop to examine it in person.
Pruitt said it could cost 60 – 70 thousand dollars to get it where it would pass inspection.
The council also talked about purchasing a new truck, but they were informed that could cost up to a million dollars.
About the current truck Pruitt said, “ if we do spend a large sum of money in that one, What’s gonna break next.”
After some additional discussion, the council asks Pruitt to work with City Administrator Tom O’Bryant and come up with some options for the council to look at.
