(Cleveland)- With the recent opening of the second phase of the Appalachian Parkway around Cleveland some property owners near the parkway have expressed interest about being annexed into the city.
During Monday’s council meeting City Administrator Tom O’Bryant talked about the interest shown by property owners on the north side of Cleveland wishing to be annexed into the city.
O’Bryant said along Highway 129 north around the parkway there’s a big parcel of land that the owner is interested in being included in the city. O’Bryant said they have interest shown that could extend the city limits to just before Albert Reid Road at Tesnatee Creek.
According to O’Bryant representatives for these properties have been exploring the process of annexation. The council members were all in favor of letting that happen.
A discussion of extending the city limits south on Highway 129 along the highway right-a-way down to Totherow Road received a cool reception by the council.
The council took no action on either idea.
