(Cleveland)- For the past 32 years the White County Senior Center has been under the leadership of a dedicated woman that has helped the department growing to where it is today. That woman, Bonnie York is retiring and Monday the White County Board of Commissioners held a retirement reception for her and took time during a called meeting to honor her.
Following the reading of a proclamation Commission Chairman Travis Turner added, “ the proclamation says Bonnie you have made a difference, that’s all well and good, I feel that pails in comparison to what you’ve done in ministering to our community for over 32 years. We can’t say it enough, we greatly appreciate you serving our parents and grandparents over the years.”
The county has hired Ms. Barbara Prevost Overton to fill the Senior Center Directors position. Overton previously served as the Coordinator for the Meals on Wheels Program at the Habersham County Senior Center and her background is in non-profit program management – including nine years with the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Locally, she serves on the Family Promise Board of Directors and as a volunteer at the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association.
