(Cleveland)- The White County Board of Education voted Thursday night to roll back the education tax millage rate by almost half a  mill, setting the tax rate at 17.481 mills.

School Finance Director Trish Fussell told the board that the county’s gross property tax digest increased by 54-million dollars, but she said tax exemptions increased by 12-million dollars, so the growth out paced the exception allowing the rollback to be made.

Board member Charlie Thomas said this is good news for taxpayers, “because the city and county are both increasing their tax rate.”

Fussell all share more  good news with the board tell them that they ended the year under budget and will end up with  4.5 million dollar general fund balance.
