(Cleveland)- We have another cold morning in Northeast Georgia and we are still dealing with some slick spots on the roads around.  Some melting of the ice and snow occurred yesterday, but where the moisture remained there are very dangerous slick spots today.  If you need to travel officials are urging you to slow down and watch for those icy areas.  

The Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM today for all of northeast Georgia. Forecasters say wind chills are expected to be between zero to 10 below.  These conditions are expected to improve today with the warmer temperatures and the winds calmer than we have seen the last couple of days. 

We do still have things affected by the weather top of that list is school systems…. In White County the schools are closed again today (Thursday).  Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson said, roads in many places around the county will be treacherous into late morning, with that in mind and the Governors State of Emergency, White County Schools will be closed. Wilson said we hope to get back in school Friday.   

Also closed  Lumpkin County Schools.  Staff should report at 9:30 a.m. Tallulah Falls School will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday. All shuttles will arrive two hours later than the normal schedule. 

Brenau University resumes operation and classes at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Gainesville, Fairburn and Norcross.  

All campuses of  North Georgia Technical College  and  Lanier Technical College will be closed Thursday. 

University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega Campus will resume normal operations Thursday,  

Truett McConnell University will delay opening until 10:00 amThursday, January 18th

White County Food Pantry is closed Thursday.  The pantry follows the school schedule for closings due to the weather.  

White County government offices will reopen on Thursday,  at 10 AM. Officials are telling county employees if you are concerned about travel Thursday, contact your department manager.

Cleveland City Hall will open at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18.

The White County Senior Center will open at 10 am today 1/18/18.

Dr. Don Robbins Optometrist office will delay opening until noon Thursday   

No story hour today at White County Library, Cleveland

White County Family Connection Meeting scheduled for  Friday has been canceled.  The next meeting will be February 16th.
