(Cleveland)- White County Commissioners have agreed in principal for an updated Automatic Aid Agreement for fire services with Habersham County. During a work session Monday the commissioners agreed to put the item on their consent agenda for their regular meeting next week.
The action followed a report from White County Public Safety Director David Murphy, who told the commissioners that, this is an update of an agreement that the two counties made back in the late 1980’s or early 90’s.
Murphy said, “ this is another chance and opportunity to provide better fire protection for both communities.” The agreement details what areas that each county will help provide protection in the other county.
Murphy also said, it is possible that some areas could see savings on their insurance premium with this agreement.
Talks are also underway with Hall County on Automatic Aid service for areas off Ransom Free Road that are located in White County.
