(Cleveland)- Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) reported Friday they have busted up a drug ring and have charged an Alto woman with murder.  GBI Special Agent In Charge Mitchell Posey says the arrests stem from the September overdose death of 37-year-old Adam Hicks of  Mount Airy.  

According to Posey, Ashely Sosebee has been charged with felony murder in the death of  Hicks.  

Posey said locations in Carnesville, Mt. AIry, Baldwin and Cornelia were searched resulting in 17 people being arrested facing charges of RICO (Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organization Act) and various drug charges. An ARDEO news release states; charged with RICO are: Ashley Sosebee, 25, Atlo; Jordan Flanagan,  25, Alto; Brandon Burton, 25, Cornelia; Dustin Thomas, 22, Alto; Grant Martin, 21, Cornelia; Jessica Hancock, 23, Clarkesville and Patricia Blacklock, 20, Gainesville.  

The release also identifies others charged as: 19-year old Cole Dalton of  Alto, charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin; Bud Heaton, age 76 of Baldwin charged with Sale of Controlled Substances Schedule II (Oxycodone), Possession Schedule II With Intent to Distribute Oxycodone;

48-year old James Heumaneus of  Cornelia charged with Sale of Controlled Substances Schedule II (Oxycodone); Janie Rogers,age 49 of Carnesville charged with Sale of Schedule II (Oxycodone), Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule II (Oxycodone); 40-year old Karen Shope of Baldwin – Sale of Controlled Substance Schedule I (Methamphetamine) x 2.  According to Posey Shope has not been arrested yet. Tina Smelcer, 47, Cornelia – Possession of Schedule II Control Substance;  49-year old Tilynn Ivester of Baldwin who faces Possession of Schedule IV Control Substance;  33-year old Brandi Freeman of  Mt. Airy – Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute and Abandonment of Dangerous Drugs; James Chadrick Harrelson, 35, Mt. Airy –Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute and Abandonment of Dangerous Drugs; 44-year old Jacqueline Galliher of Mt. Airy – Possession of Controlled Substance Schedule IV and Possession of Schedule II
