February, 2019 will go down in the books as the wettest February in 75
years of record-keeping in White County. As of 7 AM Monday (Feb. 25th), the month-to-date totals exceed all previous records at all three stations….Cleveland, Helen and Sautee. Cleveland’s previous month-to-date record was 9.07 inches in February, 1944. Helen’s previous record of 13.00 inches occurred in 1961.

Sautee’s previous record of 9.55 inches occurred in 2018. Even if we get no more rainfall through the end of the month, Helen and Sautee’s current February rainfall totals exceed their whole-month record numbers (13.32 inches in 1961 at Helen and 10.16 inches in 2018 at Sautee)…and Cleveland’s current month-to-date total is only 1.23 inches below the full-month record of 12.93 inches in 1944.
